Chief Conductor of the Janáček Opera
Robert Kružík belongs to the young generation of Czech conductors.
He was born in Brno, where he started out as a cellist and later graduated from the Brno Conservatory, studying cello (with Miroslav Zicha) as well as conducting (with Stanislav Kummer).
He continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he was taught conducting by Leoš Svárovský and Charles Olivieri-Munroe.
He successfully took part in a number of cello competitions, among them the Prague Spring, the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition and the Leoš Janáček International Competition in Brno. He also completed a study residency at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Switzerland.
